Let's meet pets across the land, and tell the stories of love and bonding between animals and their humans parents.
An estimated 30-100 millions pets live in Indian households. This includes dogs, cats, birds, fish and other animals. This number is growing quickly as Indian lifestyles urbanize and attitude towards pets change.
Stories of relationship are varied and abundant. Most are joyful, fulfilling and even funny. Some are difficult and sad. All tell the depth of connections between people and their pets, in the evolving Indian society.
Meanwhile, the pet business is in exponential expansion in India. Spending on pets reached ~ $3.6 billions of combined products and services (food, accessories, care, etc.) The pet care industry alone is expected to reach ~$1.7 billions in 2028, up from ~$700 millions today.
For example, Heads Up For Tails, a woman owned business, started as a single location small startup a decade ago. They have expanded into 20+ Indian cities and other 100 stores offering pet care and spas, and carrying 13000+ pet products, serving the multitude of Indian pets owners.
In each episode we meet with the animals and their families, explore the dynamics, spend time shopping and caring for the pets, recounts quirky and heartfelt anecdotes. We aim to dress a vibrant and varied portrait of pet families across the rich layers of Indian society.
